In Hydrogen Peroxide Plant, Primary Filter is used for filtering the Palladium Catalyst (Pd Catalyst) that comes out with the working solution from Hydrogenation Reactor. So it’s very important to clean the primary filter properly after a certain time (Usually 20-30 days) so that there is no passing problem. The porosity of this type of filter is 20 micron. In this article we will discuss about the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of Primary Filter cleaning in Hydrogen Peroxide Plant-
- Open the primary filter and set this into primary filter cleaning vessel.
- Start DM water circulation through the filter cartridges for 2 hours. The temperature of DM water should be maintained between 50 and 600C.
- Start steaming through each cartridge for 80 seconds.
- Wash each cartridge with DM water for 40 seconds.
- Start Caustic (NaOH) circulation through the filter cartridges for 12 hours. The concentration of caustic should be 15%. The temperature of Caustic (NaOH) should be maintained between 50 and 600C. In this step Zeolite is removed.
- After 12 hours stop the caustic circulation and clean the circulation header with DM water.
- Wash each cartridge with DM water for 40 seconds.
- Start Nitric Acid (HNO3) circulation through the filter cartridges for 12 hours. The concentration of acid should be 15%.
- After 12 hours stop the caustic circulation and clean the circulation header with DM water.
- Wash each cartridge with DM water for 40 seconds.
- Start steaming through each cartridge for 80 seconds.
- Now Primary Filter is ready for service. So reinstall it.
