Working solution (WS) plays a very important rule for the manufacturing of Hydrogen Peroxide. We can say it’s the blood of hydrogen peroxide plant. Besides it’s very expensive. It’s less viscous than water. It’s prepared by dissolving 2-Ethyl Anthra Quinone (2-EAQ) into three solvents named as Solvesso-150, Tetra Butyl Urea (TBU), Tri Octyl Phosphate (TOP). So it’s very important to wash or clean the working solution that we get from different sampling points, Underground Pit, solvent collection tank etc. In this article we will discuss about the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of working solution washing or cleaning in Hydrogen Peroxide Plant-
- Collect the working solution into working solution preparation tank from different sampling points, Underground Pit, solvent collection tank etc.
- Drain water from working solution.
- Add about 100 L DM water with per m3 working solution.
- Start the agitator of preparation tank and wait for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, stop the agitator and wait for 20 minutes. By this time water and impurities will settle down.
- Properly drain the water and impurities from working solution. During this time some working solution may be drained. No problem. It will go to Underground Pit.
- Start the agitator again.
- Add about 100 ml Nitric Acid (HNO3) with per m3 working solution. Acid concentration may be 40-70%.
- Heat the working solution with steam upto 500C. But not more than 550C.
- Add about 100 L DM water again with per m3 working solution.
- After 30 minutes, stop the agitator and wait for settling down all water and impurities.
- Completely drain the water and impurities from working solution.
- Check the solution has been cleaned properly or not.
- If the solution has been cleaned properly, check the pH. Maintain the pH between 2 and 3. Now the working solution is ready to be added to the system. And this washed working solution must be sent to the system through the filter (usually 5 micron).
- If the solution has not been cleaned properly, repeat the steps 7 to 12. Working solution usually takes 3 to 7 washes depending on it’s purity.
